Every Who at SWCS likes Christmas a lot, but the Grinch who lives just north of there does not!

Every who at swcs like Christmas a lot, but the Grinch that lived just north of there did not! So the Whos got together with a plan you see, to make the Grinch as happy as could be! So Grinch day was decided as a merry treat, and they'd dress all in green from their head to their feet. Every Who in k, 3rd, and 4th, the tall and the small, got together today and had quite a ball!

Grinch day is here!!  We had SO many fun Grinchy ideas for a fun day!   K, 3rd, and 4th paired for some grinchly fun!

                                                                     Merry Grinchprints~

The kiddos chose which character they wanted to create with their handprint. ;)

"He even took their last can of Who hash!"
We made a whohash snack mix to snack on. The kiddos loved it!  We had some salty sweet things and the kids put it all together in a baggie. ;)

"The Grinch's small heart grew 3 sizes that day!"

We used homemade red playdough to make the Grinch's heart!  Then we used all sorts of measuring things to see it's size.

"I know just what to do, the Grinch laughed in his throat, and he made a quick Santy Clause hat and a coat."

Grinch ornament~

Construction paper, glitter glue, cotton balls, and googly eyes. ;)

Grinch book and worksheets found on Teachers pay Teachers!  They were freebies! ;)

Fun photo booth props I found on Etsy!  They were only $3.95.  Such fun!

We had sleigh ride races with Max in antlers pulling the Grinch.

Of course the kiddos and teachers dressed the part in their green and Grinchly clothes.  So much fun was had by all!

Merry Grinchmas!!

Gingerbread Fun

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in our classroom! Our housekeeping center has turned into the Gingerbread Bakery.
I used our puppet stage to make the store front.
These are some cute little cookies I found on Pinterest. Don't they look good enough to eat?!
Here is our table full of yummy treat in our Gingerbread bakery! What a fun time of year! Today we made 2 gingerbread men and got to hunt around the school for them when they "ran away". :) I've said it before and I'll say it again, Jan Brett's gingerbread baby recipe for gingerbread is the BEST! Hope you have a merry time in your classroom!

It's turkey time!

"It's almost time for Thanksgiving, It's almost time for a feast!
Turkey, potatoes, and cornbread too. I just love pumpkin pie, don't you too?
Oh, it's almost time for Thanksgiving. I don't think I can wait!
So give thanks for all that you have, And let's celebrate!" (sing to "Take Me Out to the Ballgame")

We started November a bit early! It's hard to believe Thanksgiving is upon us! Since I've started teaching K, I have really started to love Thanksgiving! What a great holiday filled with so many fun crafts and fun ideas. My new best friend, Pinterest, has some really fun things. :)
Here are some handprint turkey and pumpkins out of pasta. :)
Our dress up center is full of some fun Thanksgiving hats and a teepee with a fire. :)
Here is a turkey I copied and changed a bit from Pinterest. I used a small paper bag for the center part of the turkey. Then I cut a small sack in half and made the turkey legs by wrapping yarn around the ends. I glued the legs to the body. ;)
I made a pumpkin pie with orange construction paper and a pie tin. ;) These pictures remind me of another poem!

 Thanksgiving Feast
 "Thanksgiving table? This is it.
And a chair where each may sit.
For each a plate, a cup, a spoon.
We'll eat and eat 'til afternoon."

Our feast will be here before we know it!  I've got some past November posts on here with things we make for that. ;)
Hope your November is full of fun!

Fall Fun in K!!

O-C-T-O-B-E-R~ October is in the fall! I LOVE fall in the classroom! So many fun things to do with fall things. :) I found our Dramatic Play center idea on Pinterest. What did we do before Pinterest?? I made a pumpkin market. The kiddos love to pretend they are shopping for fall things. I didn't use real pumpkins, just got the fake ones at Target $ spot. :) Then I found some little scarecrows and gourds. Found the cute big scarecrow at Michaels. The kiddos are having such fun! ;)
Our pumpkin market even serves hot chocolate! :)
I covered the kitchen area with orange paper.
Enjoy your cooler fall days, and I hope it's as colorful as the changing leaves!

A VERY Busy Classroom!

Our author of the month is Eric Carle. This week this is our math center. Found the idea on Pinterest, of course! What in the world did we do before Pinterest? :) I have a story starter set that the kiddos are using to put the story in order, and then they are filling out a fun worksheet where the kids can draw their findings.
For journal next week, we are going to do The Very Hungry Children Ate This Many __________________.
So many fun things to do with this GREAT author! We'll be reading his fun books and trying our hand at some art work too. :) Hope you are enjoying fall wherever you are!

Going on a bear hunt!

Found this idea on my best friend Pinterest and redid it to Dr. Jean's Bear Hunt! :)
We used it to go through the song, but it could also be in a center for the kiddos to go through it by themselves. :) Can't believe Mon. is the first of Oct. New ideas coming soon! Happy Sat.!

Picnic Time For Teddy Bears and Kinders!

This week we are having our Teddy Bear Picnic! We have been doing lots of teddy bear things this week as we prepare. :) Our craft this week was a jointed Teddy. I found it online and made patterns for the kiddos to trace. He turned out cute! I made my own big bear for the board outside our classroom.
I wrote up some history on the teddy bear to go along with our theme. :)
AND, how perfect our author of the month's books go with our theme! We did a graph of our favorite Bill Martin Jr. bear book. :) I found the cute stickers at Mardels last year.
We are looking forward to doing some fun things with our bears on Friday, Teddy Bear Picnic day! We also made some beary cute disguises~ bear ears~ and we'll give ourselves bear noses with eyeliner! ;) Happy Wed.!

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom look what we did in our room!

September our author of the month was Bill Martin Jr., and thanks to Pinterest, we found some fun new ideas to do for this fun author!
Here is our Chicka Chicka Boom Boom tree. I changed it up from my pinterest find by using strips of paper and alphabits cereal. :)
Here is our September board with our finished trees and our cute apples, also a pinterest find. Goes well with Chicka Chicka 123 too!
Here was our special yummy treat, also from pinterest, but I used green twizzlers instead of laffy taffy! To make it stick, we put icing on the top, it's great glue.:) That's a cookie for the tree trunk and milk duds for the coconuts. :) Hope you are having a September to remember in your classroom too!! Happy fall!!
